What did bother me was that for the true ending, you had to replay the entire game for a small difference in the epilogue cutscene.Allows you to obtain at a discount 6 varieties of DLC that are slated for individual purchase in the future. On the other hand, some of the map explorations were a bit repetitive (eg climbing the same painstakingly slow obstacles), and I think the ending dragged out a little bit and some of the story went over my head, but nothing that really detracted from the experience. I know that some people didn't really like the slice of life moments or slower pacing outside of story beats, but the game hit the spot for me in my life when I played it when I did. I fondly remember the game really capturing that summery vacation feel, and I also remember being pleasantly surprised by the tone that the game took. A lot of the character dynamics were really good too and some cute moe moments don't hurt either, though some BR1 references and characters were a bit lost on me. Some highlights included the banger OST, and they're so good that I still revisit the tracks to this day. I played it last year and was surprised at how good it was - I had only played some Atelier before that, and also went into the game blind (no teasers, no reviews, just saw the box and bought it). There’s a staggering amount of date sessions (like 15 per character or something) and one of the reasons it never got old for me was just how well they are captured by the camera. There’s a lot of beautiful scenery to show off and they capture the emotion and tone of each scene very well.

I believe there is a demo on each available platform, so…check it out!Įdit: Oh I forgot to mention how much I liked the cinematography during the cutscenes. I foresee even better games in the future. I did have a few nitpicks here and there, but overall I expect this franchise could be one to keep your eyes on if this quality keeps up. The art direction was also very pleasant to look at, especially a few of the explorable areas. Loved the soundtrack as well, which had a mix of piano ballads and electric rock. If you like dialogue and character driven stories, you’ll likely love this game.

It has an interesting and mysterious story, revolving around trying to figure out exactly what is happening in the backrooms-style environments. All the systems worked together exactly the way I wanted, from the crafting and facilities, to the party system and combat, to the progression system tied directly to your character interactions. I was honestly kind of blown away with how polished this game was. It’s very laid back like Atelier, and has great characters and social development gameplay like Persona games. It’s a wonderful mix of the Persona and Atelier formula (with a hint of Doki Doki Lit Club). Just want to shout out my favorite JRPG i’ve played in the past couple years.
